Aging of the body is a natural process that can’t be stopped. However, there are ways to slow down the process and lessen the effects of growing older. There are several anti-aging products and procedures on the market for purchase and use; some work, some don’t. However, if you are looking for a way to feel and look younger without breaking the bank, there are ways to make that happen.
The following ten tips may seem too simple to be methods for anti-aging, but they are actually the best and most effective ways to stay healthy, fit and supple…naturally!
.) Daily exercise: Like a rusty door hinge, our bodies tend to “lock up” as we get older. To stay loose and well-oiled, keep moving by doing some form of physical activity every day. Daily exercise doesn’t mean you have to get a gym membership and become a fitness guru. Even if it’s just a 20 minute walk, a little bit of movement every day will help your body stay strong and healthy. Don’t forget to stretch, too.
.) Drinking enough water: I’m sure you have heard that humans can supposedly survive for about a month without food but can only live about 10 days without water. It’s true that water is an essential part of human life, Over 50 percent of the body is made up of water, and you have to maintain that by drinking a good amount every day. Drinking water keeps you healthy and alive by maintaining your metabolism, regulating your body temperature, detoxifying your system and protecting your organs and joints.
.) Eating a healthy diet: By choosing the right foods, you can avoid filling your body with unhealthy toxins that lead to disease. In addition to eating healthy foods, you also must learn how to eat the right portions. For example, meat can be a great source of protein, but eating too much can lead to a number of diseases and unhealthy conditions, like weight gain and heart disease.
.) Taking a multivitamin: As you get older, your body’s ability to absorb nutrients can decrease. Help maintain a healthy level of nutrients and antioxidants by taking a daily multivitamin. To narrow down exactly what types of vitamins and minerals your body needs, ask your doctor to perform a simple blood test that will show any deficiencies.
.) Deep breathing: Stress makes us look and feel older. One of the best ways to combat stress is by taking deep breaths. Studies have shown that deep breathing can help decrease your heart rate and relax your muscles, helping you maintain a feeling of calm.
.) Getting adequate sleep: Your brain needs sleep to function and your body needs sleep to heal. Start getting at least seven hours of sleep every night and see just how much more energetic and young you feel.
.) Getting a daily dose of laughter: Laughter keeps you light, and everyone looks younger with a smile on their face. Laughter also reduces stress which promotes longevity.
.) Using your brain: If you truly want to stay young, you have to continue to use your brain every day. To do this, find a hobby, work on a puzzle (like Sudoku or a crossword) and continue to read books.
.) Finding a job that doesn’t feel like a job: This can take years, but it should be everyone’s goal to find a career that they truly enjoy. When you work a job that doesn’t feel like a job, you live a less stressful and happier life; two main necessities for staying young at heart.
.) Staying positive: Last but not least; the true meaning of staying youthful is living a life of positivity. Throw away all feelings of resentment, dislike of others and sadness about missed opportunities. Living a life of negativity is like living with a boulder always tied to your back. When you remain positive, you remain light and carefree; just like a young child.
